New Official Wiki, Evolution, and a Status Update

Hey everyone, just a small update for you guys as we make our way to alpha 0.7. We now have a new official wiki thanks to Gamepedia, we’ll be updating it ourselves, so look forward to some never before released backstory regarding the universe of the game. In the future, please update this one over all the other wikis for Planet Explorers so we can concentrate our efforts on making a comprehensive wiki.

Another thing that some of you might find interesting is a new Youtube series called “The Natural History and Evolution of Marian Fauna” by a user named PLatypus. Now PLatypus actually studies evolutionary biology, so the vids are very educational. In fact, after watching these, we’ll be changing some ai designs in the future so they’re more scientifically sound.

As far as game development is concerned, we’re almost done with the new construction system. The new creation system is still getting lots of work, but we can already import our own textures into the game. On the ai side, the Puja system is being worked on. For art, we’re now working very hard on the things you’ll in in the western desert and the canyons. It’s starting to look pretty good.

  1. Will the development in the west, also include the removal of the giant invisible wall? 🙂

  2. Is it possible to have co op or multiplayer right now ? want to play it with the wife hehehe

    • There are coop and multiplayer in the multiplayer maps, no coop for story yet. The multiplayer mode will be a lot fuller in the next major build.

  3. Awesome game 🙂 didn’t have the money to support ya’ll on kickstarter(not to mention i had intel 3000 graphics which plays in jumpy slow motion on the .53 build XD ) but have since upgraded to a much better computer and bought the game ($21 is an odd price XD) I love the game so far and can’t wait for this .7 update 🙂 have a few interesting bugs to report but i’ll go to the forum for that, but I am curious will the game continue to have to be downloaded manually or will ya’ll add an update system for it? Keep doing great work 🙂 hope I can code like that one day ^^

    • Until the terrain is fairly finalized, every update will be really big (pretty much as big as the whole game), so it’s easier for us to just put out the whole game each time.

  4. While we are still mucking around in the alpha, can you guy implement a “debug” menu, to basically let us craft anything we have the recipe for without the materials? like the old bug. I thoroughly enjoyed that so now if you can make it like a shift+F8 debug option, it would make it absolutely fantastic. Unless there already is an option for this? I do not want to get all the recipes or anything (but you could throw that in there if you wanted to) I just enjoyed that bug to test everything out with.
