Sorry for the lack of update, we’ve been so busy with correcting the merging issues stated in the last update, plus a bunch of us got colds. Anyway, we’re done with most of the merging issues. We could release the current build, but there are still 2 major issues, which are NPC followers holding guns and bows and memory. We only found out after we merged that we needed to split the player gun/bow codes out so that the NPCs can use that as well, this was an oversight on our part, this will be done by Monday.
The memory issue has become a major pain in the butt. Right now, once we load in, we’re already sitting at 1.5G. That leaves about 200MB for 32bit folks before the threshold. We’re going to have to drastically cut down on a few things and probably make a separate set of assets for 32bit specifically. We’re really hoping Unity releases their 64bit engine soon, as it is right now (which is a 32bit engine), even 64bit computers only allow 3.3G of ram to be used (so all you 8GB+ computers aren’t even being used to effect).
So, we’ll try to alleviate the memory issue before July 4th. We will release a version by that date with better ram allocations than now, but we’re not sure how far we’ll get. We’re so sorry for the delay. When we moved from 15 people to 27 people for this build, it really made things hard with all the new things coming together, we’ll probably handle it a lot better for future builds.
